We received an email today about a little dog that needed some quick medical attention. When Dad called, the shelter employee said that this girl has an incredibly sad story…

Imagine this, you are moving houses and in the hustle and bustle of in and out your little dog escapes and runs off. You frantically search, call friends, call shelters but nothing, not a sound. 3 weeks later you get a call that your dog was found and is now at the NYC Shelter. You get your family together, you get to the shelter to see her and bring her back home, the only home she has had all her life. Once at the shelter you see her, skin and bones from 3+weeks on the streets, some gastrointestinal issues from the food that she was able to scrounge up, weak and tired but so excited when she sees you. Now the reality hits, the shelter staff goes through all the medical issues and the emergency surgery that she will now need to get her bladder and stomach back on track. I can’t afford this, what am I going to do. You make the decision to surrender her to the shelter with the hopes and prayers a rescue group will get her the medical attention she needs. After a teary good bye, you drive home, alone.

Well that’s what happened to Bella here. Dad was able to get the information for the owner and give her a call to find out more. Once he got off the phone he knew what the right thing to do was. Keeping senior pets in homes has always been part of our mission. The Mr Mo Project is going to pay for the surgery and medical treatment needed to get Bella back to the healthy girl she was and then she will go back to the owner. We are all humans, things happen. At least now, a family will be reunited thanks to all of your continued support of the project!
